The Not So Solid Earth is a platform for exploring the relations between our interests in art, theory, philosophy, history, mythology, cosmology, geodetics, geology, astronomy and catastrophism.
We live and work on the coast of Lake Michigan. Our work explores a variety of mediums from paint, photography sculpture, installation and sound – expressions in one medium often divulge territory in another.
Because we are primarily visual artists we consider the texts on the blog as supplemental musings. The Not So Solid Earth is a means to work out where we think we may be headed in words and images. To steal a phrase from R.A. Wilson: it is where we explain everything or where we expose our ignorance.
