Inexpressible

Sediment Painting I

Painting is a thing that precludes language. To experience a painting is to allow oneself to let go of the need to grasp at knowledge. Painting is not a narrative: it is not commentary and it does not tell a story. Painting presents itself as a thing that is immediately there.

The material formations of the painting bear witness to the event of its making.

It is a particular kind of looking within the aegis of the now.
